Growth in demand for all types of media had a significant impact on the physical plant requirements of Midwest Tape. The full-service media distributor employs more than 300 and offers a wide selection of DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, Audiobooks, and Playaways—providing an array of media solutions to some 33,000 public libraries in the United States and Canada.
Midwest Tape’s new 100,800 SF warehouse and 34,560 SF office building houses the company’s three divisions: Hoopla (the branch that provides online and mobile access to thousands of movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, and eBooks), Dreamscape (a media development group focusing on production, distribution, publishing, and licensing of audiobooks, book-based children’s video programs, and video and audio distribution services), and Operations.
Corporate offices, open workspaces, an IT room, a print room, conference rooms, break rooms, and two audio recording/production studios reside within the administrative area. The warehouse accommodates truck docks, shipping/receiving, process/assembly, a break room, a “pick & pack” area, staging, and supplies.
Positioned at the northern edge of Wolf Creek Business Park, the new headquarters takes advantage of the existing wooded terrain and provides an outdoor picnic area and walking paths for employees.
