We conducted a feasibility study to determine the required demand for the filters and estimated the blowdown necessary to backwash the filters. The system consisted of two self-cleaning strainers to protect multimedia filters and used eight multimedia filters to treat the river water before being sent to the cooling towers. We also designed two fiberglass water storage tanks for setting and backwash. JDI performed the entire design, from the building shell to programming the HMI touchscreen, in-house. We added filter automation to keep the water flow at optimal filtration velocity, thereby reducing backwash.
Our civil and structural departments designed the site and grading plans, structural steel of pipe supports and trestle, foundations, retaining wall, and pump and filter foundations. Our team also performed power and lighting, heating and ventilation, underground plumbing and venting, and associated piping. JDI worked with the contractor and client to complete the system startup and test the automation for the engineer.
